2K@15
Imagining the new century as an adolescent on the brink of adulthood.
Each year, JMS develops an all-new, self-assigned communication to send out to our clients. The goal is to challenge each year’s final product to be a visually-stunning conversation starter that showcases our studio’s evolving ways of thinking. In short, it’s an opportunity for JMS to play and collaborate, using our team’s skill sets as our toolkit. For our 2015 project, we imagined the 21st century as an adolescent, embarking on their fifteenth year. Through a video shoot, large-format book, and poster, we captured the insights, energies, and perspectives of adolescents facing this unique time in a person’s (or a century’s) development. JMS also developed a website to feature the content, along with an opportunity for visitors to “Tell us your 15.”
Tell us your 15
To highlight the dynamism and uniqueness of each video, we developed playback elements with personality. Taking the traditional progress bar approach, we reinvented it as a circular form that fills as the corresponding video elapses. These circular shapes sit on top of each other, so the viewer jumps down from one to the next. Additionally, we drew attention to each interviewee’s voice and pitch by way of the audio tracking supergraphic in the bottom right corner of each video, which rises and falls as the speaker shares their story.
The 2k@15 website prompted visitors to share their most lasting, potent teenage memories in 15 words or less via the submission box.
